Beneath these washboards abs and designer clothing lies a complicated corporate mogul full of secrets- Grant Fontaine. Outward appearances aside, Grant prefers solitude and isolation to high society dinners and business deals.  That is, until circumstances find him escorting one super-sassy, driven, and highly successful Alyssa Stark, to a social function.  As the story unfolds, Grant and Alyssa find comfort in each other, which includes a sensual nightcap filled with desire.  The stakes are high for Grant. If crossing the boundaries of a professional relationship into a personal one weren’t enough, Grant carries the baggage of losing his wife to a tragic accident a decade earlier. She was pregnant at the time.

Alyssa is new to the big city of New York, a transplant from the Midwest in search of a new life, and a fresh start for her and her young daughter, Caroline. This is where Larsen’s story-telling mastery is really showcased.  Alyssa and her daughter are no strangers to Grant.  He’s kept a watchful eye on them from a distance via a private investigator after he discovered that Caroline is his child, conceived via a sperm donation he provided to a clinic years ago when he was struggling and needed money.

His plan was always simple.  Keep tabs on Alyssa and Caroline, ensure they are safe and well cared for (he’s been known to pull a few strings) and emotionally torture himself over a life that might have been. When Alyssa moves into Grant’s city and makes a business offer he can’t refuse, sparks fly and romance sizzles between the two.  Grant and Caroline quickly form a bond , catching her “parents” by surprise and keeping them on their toes.  The intense moment when Alyssa discovers the truth about Grant and his connection to her is extremely well played.

  2. A real page-turner. Loved the hero's emotional transition as an unplanned meeting turns to something he never expected.
